Cowrie Coil Cuff

This cuff wraps the wrist and finishes at both ends with a hand coiled brass spiral. A row of cowrie shells lines the center band, each one strung and stitched into place by hand so the shells sit shoulder to shoulder along the brass.

Material: Brass wire and natural cowrie shells.

Size: Adjustable cuff, approximately 2.5 inches at the widest point across the cowrie band.

Origin and Craft: Made by hand in Kenya. Brass wire is bent, wrapped, and coiled into the double spiral finish without a mold, a signature of Kenyan wirework where every curve is set by hand. The cowrie shell has long signaled prosperity and protection across the continent, and here a full row of shells anchors the piece with meaning that predates the brass around it.

Care: Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing and store away from moisture, perfume, and lotion to preserve the brass finish and shell surface.
